Default Hire voice acters for Chapter 3.

Ok, this is a rumor I heard. Keep in mind, it's just a rumor. I heard that for Factions, A.Net just hired random bums off the street to do the voice acting.

Regardless of rather this rumor holds any water or not, please hire better voice actors for Chapter 3 so I dont have to turn off the sound everytime there's a cutscene.

dont quote me on this, but i think at least one or two of the voice actors they have already are at least a little bit famous. the male hero voice sounds familiar to me.

the thing is that not only do they have to hire english voice actors, they also have to hire japanese, korean, chinese, french, etc.

that's alot of voice actors to spend money on.

Quite a few voice actors know more then one language though, plus its quite easy to give one a script in say... Spanish and chances are if theres someone to tell them how to properly pronounce some words they can do it.

its steven blum. you might remember him from voicing spike spiegel for cowboy bebop and he's done a ton of anime voices
here's a list of what he's done http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Steven_Blum
anet's problem isnt the voice actors themselves, they just need to find the right actor for the character so you dont get a valley girl voicing for a goth chick

I still blame the casting and the voice director.

-.- if an actor doesnt sound right for the part why did you hire him/her.

Go read the credits on guildwars.com, type their names into google if you dont notice them right away. All that I checked have done voice acting in some kind of TV show or whatever. Doubt theyre random people off the street. The names are right in front of your face.

I haven't heard that rumor.

/agree to point. I'd like to see some more diversity in the voiceovers, and a little more attention to detail on the story mode next chapter. Its upsetting that the quality of the PvE game has suffered instead of improving.

If this is the price we pay for a chapter every six months, I'd rather Anet and NCSoft took their time and got it right. PvP is sweet for the most part, but PvE has been decidedly lacking.

I don't want to buy another Factions.

The story is a minor part of a GW game, especially in Factions. They're better off focusing on gameplay. But if they do write a really good script, then they should get better voice-overs.

Good point. This last game read like a Mhenlo fanfic. Hire some better writers while you're about it.

Tell me about it. The story was even worse if the player harbored a grudge against Mhenlo...

Mhenlo: Quickly, we must head to the Shing Jea Mones...

Player: Hey Mhenlo, remember that time you didn't heal me and we all died? I just wanted to say thanks for that.

Mhenlo: Now is not the time for that! We must meet with my mentor, Master Togo!

Player: Oh, so we're going to see the guy who taught you how to heal, huh? Greeeaattt. That'll give me a chance to cast Beaten Was Togo on him.

They don't move their mouths due to the number of languages supported, based upon the different versions of the GW website, 9 languages are supported (I count american english and european english as the same even though they really aren't identical), none of which forms words the same as the others. If they add in moving mouths you could easily get somehting that looks like a bad dubbing of a godzilla movie.

I Would like bad dubbing much more than no movement at all. Even if we're the ones getting the dub.

Im too bored to go verify for sure, but im certain he does the voice for "Vincent" in Final Fantasy Advent Children, and I swear hes done a few other games and possibly anime material.
